I really like this product.It helps to keep the liquid cold longer and my hands warm when drinking.I order this for a 27oz. bottle and while it doesn't cover the neck of the bottle, it covers the rest of it which is fine with me.My one complaint, and I don't know if this amazon's fault or the company, but the colors for the Soho Stripe are not as pictured.They really aren't even close, so it is not a problem with my monitor.The pattern is the same, but the colors are closer to Stripe No. 7 tote.Personally, I like these colors better and I'm not that picky, but I think people should be aware.This is why I gave the product 4 stars.

This is my first Haier product.I've had this for a couple weeks and it has been working great.When you first turn the cold water switch on, it takes about 10-15 mins to get cold, but if you leave it on it's cold all the time.Same with the hot water, it takes about 5 minutes or so to heat up.

One problem i've noticed (minus the one star) is that when you have both hot and cold water switches on, both the hot water and cold water compete for ready access.This is not a big deal, so I usually just leave one switch on a time (usually cold since it gets the majority usage).

As far as heating and cooling quality, when it's hot, it's SUPER hot.When it gets cold, it's cold enough to condensate your glass, but not ice cold - still refreshing!

UPDATE:Here's something else I wanted to add.Unlike other water coolers, this one does not run constantly cold or hot. If you have the cold switch on, it will keep recooling the water in cycles (you'll see the cold water light go on every 20-30 mins or after use).Same with hot water.If you have the switch on, it will reheat the water in cycles (every 20-30 mins or after use).Another minor annoyance (-.5 stars), but again, it's tolerable.

Review of GE FXWTC SmartWater Whole House Filter Replacement Cartridge

[this review is of the filtration system in which this filter is used] A product that looks good in theory but fails in practice. While it was in it worked well, but you have to change the filter cartridge every 3 months, and that's where the trouble started.Although I carefully followed directions about changing it (including lubricating an o-ring with food-grade silicone grease), the cartridge holder is now frozen in place and cannot be removedto change the filter cartridge by any amount of force that I can exert. Made 4 phone calls to GE service, tried everything they recommended (not much). They even suggested a strap wrench, and a GE service rep said "we hear this once in a while from our customers" (cartridge holder can't be removed), an exact quote.I put enough force on it to cause a small leak in one of the connecting pipes. There is a one year warranty (this unit failed 1 year and 2 weeks after install), but you have to remove the unit and return it intact to place of purchase, and of course I am not going to be able to get it off intact -- that's the problem!I will have to get a plumber to cut out the filter, re-pipe the incoming water line to bypass the filter location, and throw it away. That's another $100 or so.Buy at your own risk.

Review of Brita 42556 Grand Pitcher

First, I will share with you who I am, so you don't think I work for PUR or sell PUR products in a store or something.I am a college student and I live on campus, where my tap water tastes terrible.As a result, I was in the market for a filter pitcher.I decided on this pitcher because of the large capacity.I share this Brita "not so Grand" pitcher with 3 other dudes, so needless to say, it gets lots of usage since we are all athletes that drink lots of water.At first, this pitcher seemed like a perfect fit because it has a large capacity and a "simple" electronic thing that tells you when to change the filter.Here is my attempt to persuade you, the consumer, not to buy this product.
In the relatively short (3 months) amount of time that I have had this pitcher, I have spilled enough water on my floor, counter and fridge to fill a medium size pond.Now, you may be sitting there thinking to yourself, "well, that's just because you are a clumsy/drunken college student."How wrong you are.The overall design of this pitcher is flawed for a few reasons:
1. When filling this pitcher, one must wait for the water to completely filter into the lower, clear portion of the pitcher, as the top does not fit tightly enough to prevent leaks when the pitcher is slightly tipped while being returned to the fridge.This is simply unacceptable considering this is one of Brita's most expensive pitcher models.
2.I encourage you to compare Brita's products one of its competitors, such as PUR.At home, my family has been using an entry level PUR pitcher and this "leaking from the top basin phenomenon" has never been a problem for us, in fact, I can pour a glass of water almost immediately after filling the top basin with un-filtered water, assuming there is still filtered water left in the lower half of the pitcher.
3.The spout on the "Grand" pitcher is completely flawed.This tiny flaw causes water to spill all over everything if two hands are not used to pour. (One hand to hold the pitcher, one hand to lift the spout cover).This is annoying as I have to set the cup down, instead of being able to hold the cup in one hand, and pour with the other.The problem with the design is explained here:
The white spout covering the clear portion of the pitcher that the water comes out of has groves in it to make a better seal when the pitcher sits in the fridge.I suppose this is to prevent the entrance of foreign bacteria or mold spores into the pitcher, however, this greatly inhibits the usability of the pitcher itself.For instance, if the pitcher's filtered water reservoir is too full (something that should not be an issue since the reason I purchased this particular pitcher was because of its large capacity) when one attempts to pour a delicious glass of chilled filtered water, the cap on the pourer winds up sticking and one receives two feet full of delicious chilled filter water.
Had I known of this flaw, I would have put on my flippers and snorkel before getting a glass of water.I also never would have wasted this much money purchasing one of Brita's so called "higher end" pitchers when I could have bought a cheaper, higher quality pitcher from one of their competitors.Don't buy this pitcher.Happy Hunting.

I moved into a new condo last year and the people that sold me it told me about the filter system under the sink, which has worked great. They said to replace it in about six months, and I finally got around to doing it. When I got online, I saw that they had Good, Better, and Best.I thought about going with the top of the line, but tap water in NYC is very good anyway, so figured I'd just get the cheapest to start.Replacement was pretty straightforward and I didn't need any special tools.

In all honesty, I didn't notice much of a difference in the TASTE between the old filter and the new, but I'm not sure that anyone would be able too. The stuff it's filtering out is probably microparticles that we can't really detect.

But what I DID notice, was that the flow of water through the special water spout (which is separate from the main faucet) came out much stronger. So that tells me that the old one was gunked up a bit and that it worked.

Bottom line, it shipped on time, did what it said it would, and I'll order again when I need to.

Review of 3M Filtrete FAP02-RS Ultra Clean Air Purifier

If economy is your primary weighted variable in the selection of an air filter, then the FAP02 is NOT for you.If however, breathing cleaner air is worth about $40/unit per year then this filter may be a good choice for you.


A few points to know about the filters before buying this unit.
One, this filter looks good. It seems designed to fit "up against a wall" and in this regard it is easy to position asceticallywhile still maintaining function (air filtering).Hence, it is both technically successful and yet offers a stylish design that does not junk- up a room.

Another nice feature is that it "sucks" from the back of the unit and "blows" out of the top, and therefore one is not simply blowing dust across the floor and behind furniture. And lastly, especially nice for the one in the bedroom, is it is very quite.On highest speed, the faint "hum" that can be heard is actually rather relaxing and in no way annoying.In short, a small audible footprint.


Now about filter price.
They are at first glance over-priced.Then, I considered what I was actually paying for: a relatively small and custom size (15.2x8.9).Indeed, it is this "small custom size" that makes the 3M-FAP02 so appealing in the first place!
Hence, unfortunately, for now, the filter replacements possess the an associated small-volume, high-margin pricing strategy.In economics speak, supply and demand are relatively low but the price-elasticity of the latter is very low -- the old "Schick Model -- give away the shavers and sell the blades."

There is no doubt that these filters trade at a relative premium and the resulting solution will in turn probably increase the annual maintenance costs over units which use "standard-size filters."However, here are two things you can do to essentially eliminate the "replacement filter gap" in this regard.
First, sweep the external (dirty) side of the filter once a week just enough to remove the build-up. The filter itself actually continues to filter well even after it becomes dirty; the problem with dirty filters issuction is usually reduced by the "stuff" that accumulates over time on the outside of the filter.Hence, keep the filter's outside edge free from build-up.On our weekly "sweeping day" we simply vacuum the back of the filter (the back cover pops off/on easily).
Second, If you don't want to sweep the filter, or as often, try using a very simple (and cheap) disposable "pre-filter" material to trap the big stuff -- like cat hair! :)


People vary widely in their preferences of course, but we have found these particular machines (3M FAP02) to be outstanding in both form and function; not merely in spite of, but even because of its current relatively high replacement filter prices.We have one in just about every major room.

The Culligan 2650 was easy to install; I installed it within 20 minutes, provided the hole on my sink was already there for the faucet. The instructions walked me through everything, even have detailed instructions via pictures for the lazy reader. Comes with an ergonomic long reach faucet. The new design on the lead free faucet looks almost like the ones they have in Lowe's for $50. Filter unit warnes user with audible beeps and LED lights to indicate when filter needs changing (uses a 9V battery, included). So far, this is the only unit that I know that removes MTBE's, VOC's, and more at a low cost of $32 per filter cartridge replacement set (500 gallon filter life, Pentek brand name at filterpros.com). I avoided Lowe's and Home Depot water filters b/c they use proprietary filters, forcing consumer to buy expensive filter cartridges. All other pressure fed water filters I know use $40+ filter cartridges (i.e. Aquasana). I bought the 4-pack of filters, because I keep the air cleaner in my bedroom and it does a Great job and has almost eliminated my allergies! I also can't understand why the filters cost so much....they are small and only last a month or two before you need to replace them.I have found them at Target and at Ace Hardware.....but they are always $20 each. So basically we are getting $10 off on the 4 pack...plus no tax or postage, if you use the 1-click feature.
As for as buying gas....you could only buy about 5 gallons of gas and with all the gas hogs on the road polluting the air....you really need the air cleaners, so at least at night you can breath clean air....

Review of Culligan D-40-D Level-4 Drinking Water Replacement Cartridge

If you have slow water flow before adding a Culligan under-sink filter, and don't need lead reduction, I'd recommend the D-30, which lasts 2-3 times longer, and has great flow.For the price of the D-40 you can almost buy 2 D-30's so you basically get about 4-6 times as much clean water for the price.

But if you've tested your water and it contains lead, I'd recommend this filter, because it is still great.It's just not as great for someone on a lower budget, who doesn't like to wait extra time for fresh water, like me.

Well, the water's terrific -- but no matter how many times we try to asemble, reassemble and figure out the architecture of the pitcher, the thing leaks when you pour-- and leaks a lot.So it's essentially useless.I wonder what rocket scientist designed such a device.Maybe they can get a job at NASA.

This item is advertised as fitting all Whirlpool side by side refrigerators manufactured after 1997. The statement isn't true -it does not fit counter-depth side by side refrigerators because the return air covering on the counter-depth refrigerators are completely different in shape and size from the standard depth refrigerators. So if yours is a counter depth unit don't buy this.

Review of GE FQROPF Profile SmartWater Ultra Plus Reverse Osmosis Filter Set

I've owned this for more than a year, and it has been totally trouble free. The install was pretty straight forward, and the water quality is excellent. The only thing I would suggest is replacing the first charcoal filter inline every three months, and the pair of charcoal filters every six. At a year the reverse osmosis filter is starting to clog, so it will be replaced next month. Overall I highly recommend this system.
